Last Chance - One Earth!

Last Chance - One Earth!

Today is World Earth Day, and the motto is 'Invest In Our Planet!'

You may wonder how I could save the Earth, and it is incredibly huge! How does my little step support the cause?

These questions might be too much to think about but it is what it is!

We don't have any other place to live!!!

Though many advancements are coming up, we cannot deny the fact that Earth is what we've right now to live in! PERIOD!!!

Come on, keep aside your thoughts, and come into reality - The small measures we take in our homes and environment help Earth to be healthy and safe!

This important day is followed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and sustainability. The theme " Invest In Our Planet," emphasizes the need to take action to address the global environmental challenges we face! One of the dominant challenges that we face today is food waste and its hazardous effects. Continue reading so that this will bring an impact in your thoughts in saving our planet Earth!

We will discuss the impact of food waste on our planet and how we can take action to reduce it.

Food waste is a major threat that is interlinked with the major problems of society. This not only affects the environment but also brings strong effects to the economy. According to the United Nations, a major part of all food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally. This amounts to about ~2.5 billion tonnes of food, which is enough to feed the world's hungry population four times over. Food waste not only wastes valuable resources, but it also has significant environmental impacts. When food is wasted, it ends up in landfills, where it contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and soil degradation.

The sad note is that "By 2030, it is anticipated that the global level of food waste will increase by another third." (Source: greenly.earth.com)

Reducing food waste is essential for the preservation of our planet. Here are some best ways in which we can take immediate action to reduce food waste:

Plan your meals: Plan your meals in advance and buy only what you need. This can help you avoid buying more than you can consume, which leads to food waste.

Conserving water: Kitchens play a vital role in conserving water which helps our planet to retain water for future generations. Also, cooking with minimal water and reusing water can be significantly achieved.

Buy imperfect produce: Imperfect produce is nothing but defective products. They're often discarded due to outward texture imperfections, even though they are perfectly safe to eat. Buying imperfect produce can help reduce food waste and support sustainable agriculture.

Compost: Composting is an excellent way to reduce food waste and produce nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Food waste that has been filled in landfills produces methane, a concentrated greenhouse gas. By composting, you can help reduce methane emissions and support sustainable agriculture.

Plant trees: Planting more saplings and trees help the Earth breathe and in turn helps us breathe good, fresh air. Even get flower pots that serve as adorning items but impact a significant cause.

Gifting methods: Donating a sapling will be a small step for a great cause. Instead of presenting costly products, gifting your loved ones will create a long-lasting impression that would serve our environment.

Donate food: If you have excess food that you cannot consume, consider donating it to a local food bank or charity. This can help people get food and can reduce food waste.

Use food scraps: Many food scraps can be used in cooking, such as vegetable peels, chicken bones, and fruit peels. These scraps can be used to make stocks, soups, and other dishes, reducing food waste and adding flavor to your meals.

In conclusion, reducing food waste is essential for the preservation of our planet. By taking simple actions such as planning our meals, buying imperfect produce, composting, donating food, and using food scraps, we can make a significant impact on the environment and support sustainable agriculture. This World Earth Day, let us pledge to take action to reduce food waste and restore our planet.

Let us at least be faithful to our planet and take strong decisions in conserving our Earth!
